The laboratory of pulsed radiation sources was established in 2000 under the supervision of Dr. Filatov Alexander Leonidovich. By this time, the Institute formed a group of researchers specializing in the development of small-sized pulsed sources of ionizing radiation. The separation of this group into a separate laboratory made it possible to concentrate on solving the problems of creating x-ray generators, as well as the problems of applying nanosecond high-voltage generators with semiconductor switching.
Devices created in the laboratory are used in Russia and abroad, both in scientific and industrial organizations.
With the help of laboratory staff at the enterprises of the Sverdlovsk region launched a serial production of sealed pulse x-ray tubes with a voltage of 120 kV and 300 kV, small-sized x-ray medical device. Generation of x-ray radiation by a series of high-current pulses of nanosecond duration and work in the technique of "hard" image can reduce the dose of radiation in medical research tenfold.
No less interesting is the work in the field of rock processing using high-voltage pulses. New enrichment methods developed in the laboratory allow to increase the recoverability of fine-grained useful product from refractory ores by 1.5 times without ore regrinding.
