A plasma generator based on a discharge with a self-loading hollow cathode made of titanium nitride with an adjustable position of the cathode thermionic emission zone is developed, which is achieved by the creation of a highly inhomogeneous magnetic field in the local cathode region. The generator has an increased resource, operates at low working gas flows (up to 10 cm3/min) and is able to generate oxygen-containing plasma for a long time both in the DC mode (5–50 A) and in the pulse-periodic mode (0.1–1 ms, 10-100 A, 10–1000 Hz).
